Sample Making: stabilized the connecting sticks

Interesting research: A prosumer report from HAVAS
During my research, I found an interesting but scientific report about gender and society in the future from HAVAS.

Another possible part of a deformable surface structure
Samples making: Using Jossi Press and Dooming Block to shape the aluminum pieces
For making samples of the repeated spheres structure, I did electric forming to ping pang balls to be a large size model. But I still need small samples to experiment that whether the structure works or not. This sample should be as detail and regular as possible, even using simple materials.
I used Jossi Press cut the 0.7mm aluminum sheet into 20mm dia rounds, then used dooming block to hammer them in to the half sphere as I sketched.
Aluminum is not a good material for doing this, cause it has bad ductility compared with other metal. But I choose it because it is lighter. There would be repeated spheres in this structure so the material need to be light.
Samples making – Electric forming the ping pang balls
Before electric forming the half ping pang balls, I need to draw holes on them, so that they could be stabilized by a wire instead of float on the liquid.
Structure sketches3 – Sphere
Made a development on repeated spheres structure.
The dia of big ball and small ball should keep the approximate proportion of 10:3.5, so that the small balls could spinning easily in the gap of big balls.
Structure Sketches2 – Sphere
Spheres got more flexible moving and spinning space

Tried with repeated cylinders, but didn’t achieve a good result
